Certified VKI Reference Materials for Environmental Chemical Analyses

Certified VKI Reference Materials consist of a broad range of certified reference materials that are used to improve and ensure the quality of the environmental laboratory’s chemical analyses
Certified reference materials provide more reliable analytical results than with in-house produced control samples. The purpose is to control the execution of environmental chemical analyses to ensure that the analytical results are in accordance with true value.
A safe way to perform chemical analytical control is to apply certified reference material. Certified means that a sample is produced in a controlled environment and that the content has been measured by a number of specially selected and qualified laboratories.
This provides the best possible insurance that the test sample’s value is as close to true value as possible. The measurement result’s expected quality is ensured e.g. by applying certified reference materials.
It is important that the reference sample is as identical with the unknown sample as possible. This means that it is in the same concentration area and has the same sample composition as the unknown. In practice it is difficult to achieve this in the environmental area as the natural concentrations and sample compositions may vary considerably. It is therefore important to have several reference materials to choose from as well as reference materials that can be added unknown samples to control that the added compound can be recovered.
Certified VKI Reference Material is used by laboratories to:
-
Strengthen their analytical quality and reliability
-
Simplify the internal quality control
-
Provide long-term internal comparability
-
Ensure comparability nationally and internationally
-
Provide traceability
-
Validate and evaluate analytical methods
-
Calculate the measurement uncertainty
Certified VKI Reference Material is available in different matrices:
-
Waste water
-
Fresh water
-
Drinking water and ground water
-
Soil and sludge
