In Denmark, most substances and preparations/materials that are imported in quantities of more than 100 kg/year shall be registered with the Danish Working Environment Authority (the Danish Product Register) if the end-product is sold to the industry/used for professional purposes
Importers and manufacturers who import hazardous chemicals to Denmark shall register the products, whether the products are raw materials or intermediates – and also if the products are not re-sold.
The Danish Product Register:
- Is a national authority that makes it possible to keep track of the use of hazardous substances in Denmark
- Was established in order to create a register of the national use of hazardous chemical substances and materials
- Registers individual substances and mixtures of substances (preparations)
- Provides detailed information on the use of particular hazardous substances at a particular moment
To have a product registered, the company shall submit various pieces of information about the substance/preparation, for example:
- Confidential manufacturer’s information on the composition of the product
- Information about physical and chemical product properties, etc.
- Classification and labelling of the product
When the Danish Product Register has received all relevant information you will be given a product registration number (PR number); this PR number shall be stated on the product label and in the material safety data sheet.
