Testing Animal feed products

Ensuring high Quality Feed Products

Analysis of vitamins and amino acids is essential in feed to ensure that animals receive the necessary nutrients for growth and health. Proper nutrition is crucial for optimizing meat, milk, and egg production, while deficiencies or imbalances can lead to poor animal health, decreased productivity, and increased risk of disease. Accurate analysis allows for adjustments to be made to optimize animal nutrition, resulting in healthier, more productive livestock.

At Eurofins Vitamin Testing we have one of largest test portfolios in Europe when it comes to vitamin and amino acid analyses. We have vast experience with feed products concerning different types of matrices/test samples, pretreatment homogenization and - of course - state of the art analytical methods accredited for feed matrices.

We are a team of highly educated experts who can assist you with guidance and quality assurance when it comes to vitamins and amino acids in your product.

An important role in modern agriculture

Animal feed and nutrition plays an important role in modern agriculture and in the well-being of our livestock and thereby also the quality of the livestock products that we consume.

We can help you verify the quality of both premix products and ready feed and ensure that they contain the declared amounts of amino acids and vitamins.

Due to the shortage of some vitamins in 2018, the prices have increased. According to the European Commission, roughly 5 million EU farmers raise animals for food production with a value of approximately EUR 130 billion. They need about 450 million tons of feed for their animals, and the demand for nutritional knowledge and quality assurance is high. Do you get what you are paying for?

At Eurofins we prioritize quality though well implemented quality assurance systems and validated methods. We perform daily test of performance, make use of reference materials (CRM, SRM), participate in international proficiency tests, and our laboratory is accredited according to ISO 17025.

We aim at consolidating quality and delivering services that comply with our clients’ expectations and needs.

Vitamins in Animal Feed

Vitamins

Vitamins play a key role in animal health and are essential for the metabolic process of animals. Vitamins can also be ingested as pro-vitamins, which are converted to the corresponding vitamin. Vitamins are divided into two groups based on their solubility in fat or water.

The fat soluble vitamins, except vitamin K, are well stored in the animal. It is therefore important that the feeding of vitamins is under controlled conditions, as it can be toxic in high dosages.

Except for vitamin B12, the water soluble vitamins are not stored and are quickly excreted. Therefore a continuous supply of the water solubles and vitamin K is needed to avoid deficiencies. We offer vitamin analyses on both high concentration matrices, such as premixes, and ready feed products.

Amino acids in animal feed

Amino Acids

When applied correctly amino acids have a digestibility of 100 %. The biological value of a feed protein depends on the configuration of amino acids.

High quality feed consists of an ideal amount of all essential amino acids. If the composition lacks one of the amino acids it can have a significant influence on protein value. It is therefore important that the amino acid composition is quality controlled to ensure the optimal biological value of the product.

A low biological value can lead to a low livestock product yield. We offer analyses on both protein bound and free amino acids. Select a packages of analyses of amino acids, or if you only need analyses of a selection of amino acids, this will of course also be possible.

25-OH Vitamin D in Animal Feed

25-OH Vitamin D

25-OH vitamin D is a more stable and efficient form of vitamin D than vitamin D3, which is commonly used in livestock feed. 25-OH vitamin D is less prone to degradation and more readily absorbed by the animal, ensuring optimal utilization and efficacy. Vitamin D, and therefore also 25-OH vitamin D in livestock feed can improve bone health, muscle strength, and immune function, resulting in healthier, more productive livestock.
